FOOD SELLER STABS BOY TO DEATH OVER N100 DEBT[PHOTO]

There was a mild disturbance on Wednesday at Herbert Macaulay Way, Central Business District, Abuja, when a food seller stabbed a boy to death over a N100 debt.
The incident led to the burning of a BMW car and policemen and soldiers, guarding the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation headquarters, had to be drafted in to prevent a breakdown of law and order in the area.
Trouble started when the woman, whose name could not be immediately ascertained, allegedly accosted the boy, simply identified as Nuhu over the debt. An argument was said to have ensued and the woman, in a fit of anger, stabbed the boy in the stomach with a knife.
The deceased was later taken away to an unknown destination by his friends.
An eyewitness, who identified himself as Abubakar, told Punch Metro that Nuhu shouted after being stabbed, slumped and died and his friends and artisans quickly moved to attack the woman, but a man prevented them from beating her.

“The man prevented the boys from attacking the woman by taking her away to safety. The mob then destroyed the table and benches being used by the woman to sell food and placed it on top of the car belonging to the man before setting it ablaze. By the time the police and fire fighters came, it was too late to save the car,”Abubakar narrated.
A Punch correspondent observed that the policemen spent some time around the area to ensure that the mob dispersed and to prevent some of them, who are mostly jobless youths, from fomenting trouble.
The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Altienne Daniel, could not be reached for comments as she did not respond to the calls to her phone.
